Biography
I was the founding travel editor of the San Francisco Examiner and served as travel editor of the S.F. Examiner-Chronicle for 19 years. I am now a full-time freelance travel writer and photographer. I've received many awards, including the Ordre du Merite from the French government in 1982. I teach at the annual Travel Writers Conference, Book Passage, Corte Madera, California, and frequently am on local radio discussing aspects of travel. Also, I now am working with Fugazi Travel of San Francisco, the oldest such agency in Northern California. My title is Media Consultant and I have nothing to do with selling travel, only with creating new and more creative ideas for trips and/or tours that will enhance a traveler's experience. I have taught travel writing aboard Princess Cruise's departure from San Francisco for the Mexican Riviera. I now write a regular column for the Nob Hill Gazette in San Francisco.
