Biography
Travel has been my mantra for the last 40 years!
After graduating from the University of Oregon with a BA in English and obtaining a BA in Secondary Education from Eastern Oregon University, I hired on as a travel agent. For 26 years I traveled extensively, getting to know the globe and its people. I was in one of the first groups to travel to mainland China during its normalization in 1979.
After retiring from agency work I began a travel journalism career. This allows me to keep in touch with places, people and to promote favorite destinations and adventures. I specialize in the Pacific Northwest, but do venture out to specific locales on assignment. My articles have taken me to such varied places as the elite horse farms of Normandy, France, as well as to New Orleans to research the Voodoo culture, and many visits to Kentucky as a journalist at The Derby. My travels have also taken me to Quebec for the Winter Carnival and a stay in the Ice Hotel.(Very Cool!) My particular interests are in people, world history, cultures, history of the American West, Thoroughbred horse racing and art. One of my stories on Fort Smith, Arkasas will be published in Spring, 2008 The History Channel Magazine.
For me, travel has not only been my vocation, it is a constant vacation too.
